I really couldn't agree more. At one time shortly after ICC came out I attempted to go disc for a raid or two in place of my shadow spec, since I have noticed problems with holy from the start of ICC. I think I ended up missing a raid/sitting out or something, and then the next raid we were still going back to togc25 because of low attendance. Our parses showed me tied with gretyl as holy. I wasn't 100% at the spec since I have really only used it in pvp, but I wasn't doing bad with it. It could have easily topped the parses due to absorptions, but that's the thing about disc. The most effective way to play that spec was to constantly shield your ass off. It's literally all you do. My only reason for not testing the spec out any longer was it's lack of consistent snap heals and it just wasn't fun. Also Pain Suppression really doesn't do it for me, it's a decent spell, but gs trumps it.
Pretty sure Gretyl and I both have a gear set for it, and Gretyl has it as his offspec atm. I would have to drop holy if it's what you need, or leave my shadow behind for a bit.

I use my holy gear, but its not optimal (wayyyyyyy to much haste, not enough spellpower/crit). I don't go disc because I think I bring more with shields from val'ynar. If you want me disc, I'll work on a gearset, first thing to go is get the extra 200sp I can from a new weapon.

disc has great snap heals, penance heals for a ton! Not sure if they fixed the penance bug, but when you get the borrowed time buff you can spam instants/penance and greater heal at the end all with 25% haste.

i think a disc priest would be supreme for icc. Stone as disc and gretyl as holy would be more optimal IMO . The shields from stoned and val'ynr from gretyl would be supremeeee. Plus penance has a cool graphic !

I would def have to be told to do this before I would make the switch, I love holy as healing honestly, and this would be a plunge to the nether regions of the meters, but progression is really all that matters, and whatever you guys chose is what will happen.

I was just throwing this up here mainly for Gretyl/Stoned/Thems to discuss the possibility of someone going Disc.

If Disc doesn't work well with crappy orange I can't remember the name of and Stoned doesn't like playing the spec, maybe its not the way to go for right now, I don't think we are hitting any walls due to no Disc priest ATM (but if we ever get to Heroic Lich King, we'll need em).

Aka if you want me disc I would want a new weapon. I'm losing 200-300sp to have the abilities to put bubbles up. Its not worthwhile to have a disc priest use the hammer because you would want them spam-shielding, and the heal that I get (with glyph) is around 1k heal.

this might be a good time to figure out exactly what the hammer is doing for us these days, vs what he could be doing for us with a weapon upgrade as disc. Not to divert attention from me going disc lol, but I've actually questioned gretyl through whispers as to when he actually plans on replacing it, since he seems unhappy with the proc rate in combat. Not to mention these days he's actually missing out on a shitload of personal stats by lugging the thing around. If I had the weapon myself I would consider an upgrade at this point. Also, the beauty of him doing it is that it's already his offspec, and I guarantee you he's more experienced with it in PvE than myself. It's always been my pvp spec and the rotations are completely different. Not saying I couldn't learn it, but that dude already has.

If I can divert you to the other thread (@Thems in this subgroup), was some numbers comparing val'anyr and trauma. It was total, but I can safely say it absorbed for a lot.

I don't have any problems going disc (mine is a pvp spec actually, but i'll fix if ya want me to go fulltime), so if its what the guild needs I'll switcher up.
